Siegfried Hansen is a German street photographer from Hamburg. His work offers a colourful graphic perspective on street photography where the main focus is not people, faces, or gestures, but instead graphic connections and formal relations with colour-blocked landscapes and geometric compositions. His work shows the aesthetics of the coincidence in public areas which are full of surprises.
Siegfried’s distinctive style has earned him international recognition and his work has been widely exhibited. He is one of 45 highly acclaimed international street photographers profiled in the book ‘Street Photography Now’ written by Sophie Howarth and Stephen McClaren in 2010 published by Thames and Hudson. In 2015 Kettler Verlag published Siegfried’s first book ‘Hold the Line’ which was shortlisted for the Aperture Foundation PhotoBook Awards at Paris Photo for the First Book Award.
